Rocky Mountain National Park has learned a lot during the COVID-19 pandemic, and is rethinking how to deal with the overcrowding they have been seeing for years.
The park, located in Colorado, had implemented a time-entry reservation system in 2020 to promote social distancing, according to USA Today. The system required reservations with timed entries for vehicles to limit park capacity to 60 percent.
Although the park has decided to discontinue the program, they are now thinking of ways to deal with their longterm overcrowding issues.
Rocky Mountain National Park has imposed vehicle restrictions of some sort in the park since 2016, but said they will look for public input before making their next decision on a permanent reservation system.
In 2019, nearly five million people visited the park.
