Road Closures Downtown, Weekend of 9/17/11

 Are any of you working in your downtown office this weekend? Here are some events that you may want to consider as you’re making your way through Downtown Houston this weekend, Sept 17 & 18.

Special Events

EVENT: 43rd Annual Fiestas Patrias International Parade

DATES: Saturday, September 17, 2011 / 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

PLANNED ROUTE / STREET CLOSURE:  Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. onTexasatHamilton, proceeds west onTexas, north on San Jacinto, east on Preston and concludes onPrestonat Crawford.  Staging on Hamilton (all lanes) between Preston and Capitol, Texas (all lanes) between Hamilton and Chartres, Texas (two north lanes) between Chartres and Bastrop, Chartres (one east lane) between Preston and Texas, Preston (all lanes) between Hamilton and Bastrop, St. Emanuel between Congress and Texas, Hutchins between Congress and Preston, Bastrop (one west lane) between Preston and Texas and Avenida de las Americas between Capitol and Texas.  Disbanding on Crawford between Preston and Congress, Congress (two south lanes) between Crawford and Hamilton, Hamilton between Congress and Preston and Preston between Hamilton and Bastrop.

EVENT: Lone Survivor Foundation Gala

DATES: Saturday, September 17, 2011 / 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

PLANNED ROUTE / STREET CLOSURE:  Crawford between Texas and Prairie (one east lane only).  Closure from 12:00 noon to 11:00 p.m.

EVENT: A Taste of Hope…Vegas Style

DATES: Saturday, September 17, 2011 / 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.

PLANNED ROUTE / STREET CLOSURE: Walker and McKinney between Crawford and Avenida de las Americas.  Closure from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
