The next solar eclipse over North America is happening April 8, 2024, and will pass over large cities like Buffalo, NY; Burlington, VT; Indianapolis, IN; and Little Rock, AR. The Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (LRCVB) is making big plans for the “Great North American Eclipse.”

Many parts of Arkansas will be in the path of totality, so Little Rock CVB is expecting people from all over the United States to visit during the week.

“We encourage people to step outside at 1:51 p.m. April 8, 2023, to see where the sun will be in exactly one year in an effort to plan their viewing area for the 2024 Eclipse,” said LRCVB president & CEO Gina Gemberling.

Little Rock CVB is not only looking forward to the added tourism, but is also planning for the organization and preparation needed to keep everyone safe and also provide an enjoyable experience. LRCVB is asking local businesses and organizations who are planning their own events to reach out to be featured on the Little Rock website.

Organizations like the Museum of Discovery have already begun planning for the 2024 Eclipse.

“In just one year, Little Rock will get a chance to see amazing science in action,” said museum director of STEM Initiatives Brittney Kugler-Reynolds. “The Museum will be providing hands-on teacher professional development, engaging science programming, and spectacular demonstrations leading up to the April 8, 2024 totality. This is a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon where everyone can be a scientist for a day.
