The United States will be allowing in foreign tourists beginning in November, as long as they are fully vaccinated, according to White House Assistant Press Secretary Kevin Munoz.
“The US’ new travel policy that requires vaccination for foreign national travelers to the United States will begin on Nov 8,” Munoz tweeted on October 15. “This announcement and date applies to both international air travel and land travel. This policy is guided by public health, stringent, and consistent.”
According to USA Today, the policy will also include a negative test taken within three days of departure from their home country. The United States had just announced this week that land borders with Canada and Mexico would also open for fully-vaccinated travelers.
The new policies only apply to travelers vaccinated by FDA or WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccines, with questions about other vaccines. USA Today wrote a fantastic article on the subject.
The vaccines approved by WHO are Johnson and Johnson, Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTec, Oxford-AstraZeneca (Covishield), Sinopharm, and Sinovac, with the first three being approved by the FDA as well.
